The Shape of a New Chapter

From the Greenbriar studio · June 2026

In June, a new group of sculptural works began to take visible form.

The month’s photographs are filled with vessels that seem to open like flowers. Sheets of green, white, yellow, and narrow flashes of cobalt were cut, layered, fused, and shaped into rising folds. The glass holds the evidence of heat in every curve: edges softened, colors drawn together, and flat arrangements transformed into objects that change from every angle.

The studio record widened from a single object to the beginnings of a family. A paler green vessel appeared beside the first, quieter in color but equally alive in shape. Other variations followed: dark emerald folds, translucent leaves, milky white openings, and a smaller piece with the delicacy of a new shoot.

June also marked a change in how the work was being considered. Questions of scale and pricing emerged around the 20-inch panels. Photography became intentional, with white backgrounds for shape and clarity, dark backgrounds for depth and drama, and window light for the luminous character of the glass. Notes about provenance, materials, firing dates, and inspiration began to gather around each piece.

The work was becoming more than a series of experiments. It was becoming a body of work with a visual language of its own—botanical, luminous, and shaped as much by light as by heat.
